2017年11月11日 · The 16 in 0W-16 indicates the viscosity characteristic of the oil when the oil is at high temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity (one with a higher value) may be better suited if the vehicle is operated at high speeds, or under extreme load conditions.

2023年5月18日 · 0W-20 is already thin. I think the 0W-16 is pushing it but that’s just my opinion. I’d use 0W-16 at least while under warranty. Some of my coworkers swear they have to take 0W-16 because they said the oil ports on the engine block are too small for anything thicker but I don’t see much of a difference in the size or the viscosity of the oil.

If you keep an eye out for oil sales and stock-up, oil can be had for nearly free! Best price I scored was just the cost of sales tax due to MIR (Mail in Rebate); this cameout to $0.47/quart!

I don't see how they could make any of this clearer. All of the "recommended" use of 0W-16 oil revolves around, "better efficiency", (read better fuel economy), and "easier winter starting".

But 10k mile oil changes using appropriate oil might still be economically sound for those cars that do plenty of highway mileage, and where hills, wind, traffic and "hard" driving aren't so much a thing.

2006年10月8日 · Using 0W-20 every other oil change would comply with the Owner's Manual that says that if 0W-16 is not available, then 0W-20 may be used, and then switch back to 0W-16. You are apparently out of touch with regard to transmission problems with many 2017 and some 2018 Highlander and Sienna vehicles suing the 8-speed transmission.
