Ox was a Canadian alternative country band active in the 2000s and 2010s, based initially in Vancouver, British Columbia, [1] and later Sudbury, Ontario. [2] The core of the band consisted of Mark Browning on lead vocals and guitar, Ryan Bishops on guitar and piano, Shawn Dicey on bass and Max Myth on drums. [2]

Ox began in the smokey confines of East-side Vancouver’s Profile Studios- as songwriter Mark Browning’s project to remake Woody Guthrie’s ‘Dust Bowl Ballads’. What started as a musical history exercise transformed into an expression of rambling indie folk soundscape.

From there, through multiple albums and countless tours, Ox fuse weary with vicious, punk with hillbilly- farmer in the city with the electro-magnetic aura of tape hiss and amp crackle. Since 2012's 'Tuco' album, Ox's Mark Browning shifted his creative energies to start a family and focus on his community.
