2022年1月1日 · The introduction of the Panzer IV Ausf.G version basically changed the Panzer IV’s overall combat role. While all previous versions were primarily intended as support tanks that were to engage fortified positions in support of the Panzer Divisions, the Ausf.G was to receive a huge increase in firepower against armored targets.

The Panzerkampfwagen IV (Pz.Kpfw. IV), commonly known as the Panzer IV, is a German medium tank developed in the late 1930s and used extensively during the Second World War. Its ordnance inventory designation was Sd.Kfz. 161 .

The Panzer IV G variant effectively changed the Panzer IV's overall combat purpose. While all previous variants were primarily meant to engage fortifications and entrenched positions in support of the infantry, the Panzer IV G was the first entirely new variant to receive a significant increase in firepower against armoured targets.

History: In November 1941, plans were made to improve the armament of the Pz Kpfw IV by installing a long-barrelled 7.5cm KwK. This change was to have taken place with the Ausf G. Because of the superiority of the Russian KV-1 and T-34, an order was issued to mount the 7.5cm KwK40 as quickly as possible.
