I'm not at all familiar with checking vacuum lines, actuators, etc. Could I have inadvertently destroyed the turbo, or could it be something else that's still fixable?

2024年1月27日 · DTC P0299 indicates an under boost as you've likely confirmed. Some folks swear by the use of Oven Cleaner to free up the mechanism. The OC is applied directly to the exhaust side of the Turbo Turbine blades. Or, some removed the exhaust pipe to the EGR cooler and spray the OC in there.

2012年7月10日 · I have a 2004 Jetta PD TDI with 170,000 miles and no mods. My P0299 popped up just after I replaced my air filter with a K&N type. I've seen mention that the TDI's won't tolerate a K&N but not what problems it causes. Also the old one was really blocked. Would that cause my P0299? Do I have to buy a paper filter to find out?

2013年3月18日 · There was the sound of a high whistle, a little lower pitch than the turbo, but much louder. It was faint during idle, and increased in amplitude as the turbo kicked in. Eventually, I got a CEL with code P0299...the turbo under boost code. Other information...Yesterday I removed the EGR valve and valve cover to inspect the camshaft.
