Frequency of duty wave is changed in proportion to rotation of tone wheel and PCM gets vehicle speed through the wheel speed sensor(In case of non-ABS/ESP vehicle)".

Nov 25, 2013 · It does require you to register, but it's free and they don't seem to do anything bad with your email address - I've been a "member" for several years. Anyway, P0501 seems to refer to the wheel speed sensor which is located on the right front wheel. I'd start simple and trace the wire up under the plastic wheel well. That's where the connector is.

Jan 8, 2025 · Hey everyone! I have a 2003 Hyundai Sonata and it runs great, problem is I have a check engine light on for a code P0501 and because of that I can’t pass emissions. It shifts fine, reads RPM and speedometer no problem. I changed the VSS input as per the P0501 code but the check engine came back on indicating the same problem.

Mar 10, 2009 · I called Tech Line a Hyundai, and he said that the VSS (attached to speedo gear, which is coupled to trans output shaft) will not set a DTC (code), and that the P0500/P0501 is directly related to the right front wheel speed sensor (even though the DTC description says "Vehicle Speed Sensor malfunction"! ! !.
