2024年1月9日 · The AS/NZS 1716 classifies particulate filters as P1, P2 and P3 based on their level of efficiency against the 'most penetrating particle size'. N95 (NIOSH, USA) and FFP2 (EN 149) are the relative equivalents of P2s (AS/NZS 1716). In Australia, P3 filters are only considered P3 when attached to full face respirators.

Class P1 particulate filters are used against mechanically generated particulates e.g. silica and wood dust. Class P2 particulate filters are used for protection against mechanically and thermally generated particulates or both e.g. metal fumes.

The key issue is to differentiate various filters, such as P1, P2, P3, N95, and FFP2, in order to select appropriate respiratory protection. While P1 has low filtration, P2/N95/FFP2 have a high level of protection for most airborne hazards, and P3 offers the highest level of filtration when connected to a full-face respirator.
