In reality, this meant that is was not until February 1916 that the first MkI P14s were delivered. These were subject to further adjustments, because the size of the locking lugs on the bolt needed enlargement and so the new specification was designated as the MkI* P14, which only further delayed its issue.

By early 1918 Aldis had developed an off set telescope for the P14 and again only Winchesters were selected for conversion.

2015年4月7日 · This was added when the bolt lugs were lengthened and the recesses deepened (in Dec 1916) so formally as Beerhunter notes above your rifle is a Pattern 1914 MkI*E. Your rifle should also have a serial number on the rear sight leaf.

2020年3月16日 · I'm currently piecing together information on a P14 i just bought (separate thread here) and i noticed the picture denoting the difference between Mk1 and Mk1* bolts. In Skennerton's book on the P14, he says that Mk1 bolt locking lugs are shorter (0.625") and that Mk1* were longer (by 0.10") and that Mk1* barrels had longer locking recesses.

2021年10月6日 · It is, as expected a MkI* (see * marks on barrel and bolt handle) The P14 also carries British .303 civilian proof marks indicating it has passed through the civilian gun trade in the UK at some point.
