The P1702 indicates a fault with the trans range sensor. The diagnostic flow chart in the link below has to be followed to pinpoint for sure if the sensor needs replaced or if there is a wiring issue or another component at fault. In most cases, it is the range sensor itself needing to be replaced. This causes the erratic shifting issues.

P1702 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Intermittent. P0707 - Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit Low. P0706 - Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance. Please find attached the diagnostic procedure for the 3 faults, the issue may caused by a power, ground, signal issue or a faulty transmission range sensor.
