P3A's journey to becoming a 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗯 for federal government entities.

The P3a is a positive-going scalp-recorded brain potential that has a maximum amplitude over frontal/central electrode sites with a peak latency falling in the range of 250–280 ms.

The P3A is a lively and successful club offering continuous learning and social activities for residents and regular visitors in the Paphos district. We have over 900 members and over 40 groups pursuing a wide range of activities.

Mismatch negativity (MMN) and P3a, indices of early attention processing that are often impaired in schizophrenia, might represent optimal electrophysiological candidate biomarkers of illness progression and poor outcome. However, contrasting findings are reported about the relationships between MMN-P3a and functioning.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between the ERP components P3a/P3b and cortical thickness, and to test specific hypotheses about how P3a/P3b–cortical thickness relationships mediate executive and fluid cognitive function.

The P3a is a positive potential having its maximum amplitude over frontal/central electrode sites and a peak latency in the range of 250–280 ms. This wave has been associated with engaging attention (especially the orienting, involuntary shifts to changes in the environment) and processing novelty.

Recent empirical advances on the relationship between the P3a and P3b event-related brain potentials (ERPs) have suggested a plausible approach to how these potentials may interact. The purpose of this chapter is to review the issues surrounding these developments.
