This is Amtrak's newest diesel locomotive: the P42DC Genesis. Built in May of 1997, this locomotive is now 14 years old. Amtrak aquired the Phase V paint sheme in 2000, with two variations. this is the more well known loco.

I read on Trainorders.com that Amtrak P42DC 156, the second 40th Anniversary unit was the trailing locomotive on the westbound Southwest Chief that departed Chicago on Wednesday afternoon and would arrive in Los Angeles Friday morning, if everything worked out.
