The PBM-1 was equipped with retractable wing landing floats that were hinged outboard, with single-strut supported floats that retracted inwards to rest beneath the wing, with the floats' keels just outboard of each of the engine nacelles.

The sole prototype XPBM-1 (BuNo 0796) was originally built with no-dihedral horizontal tail surfaces. It is seen here in 1940 after the tail was modified to production standard and with the inward-retracting floats characteristic of the PBM-1 variant.

Introduced in Update "Hot Tracks", the PBM-1 "Mariner" is a very well-defended bomber capable of carrying heavy bomb loads. Unfortunately, the larger bomb loads come at the price of being very big and heavy compared to other bombers around its BR. Luckily, the PBM-1 has 5 turrets all housing 12.7 mm machine guns which is excellent for its BR.

2022年4月15日 · Even before the first flight of the XPBM-1, on 81 December 1937 the Navy ordered 20 production PBM-1s from Martin. In keeping with their custom of giving Martin aircraft monikers beginning with M, Martin dubbed their PBM the Mariner.
