PC SD45 6179 leads a northbound Cincinnati-Dayton train through Miamisburg, Ohio, about 9 miles south of Dayton on PC's former NYC (Big Four) Galion-Columbus-Cincinnati line. Photo taken in 1975 by Dave Royer.

The SD45 is a six-axle diesel-electric locomotive class built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between 1965 and 1971. It has an EMD 645E3 twenty-cylinder engine generating 3,600 hp (2,680 kW) on the same frame as the SD38, SD39, SD40, and SDP40.

2025年3月24日 · While the SD45's might have been the last locomotives delivered to the PRR, the U33C's and C636's were the last ordered, although they were delivered in PC paint. (Penn Central also received a few SD40's early on, which might have been ordered by the P Co.)

Late in the day on March 19, 1977, PC-lettered SD45 6124 roars by the cab of GP30 2241 on the Trenton cutoff at Willow Grove, PA. Still in PC colors, GP30 2241 was waiting for westbound clearance with GP7 5814 and a line of hoppers. The friendly crew of 2241 gave me permission to climb aboard for this great view.
