The roster below is comprehensive for Conrail's U30C when they arrived on Conrail from the Reading Company and Penn Central. All ten units were retired on July 28, 1982 and sold to the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad, which never operated them.

The GE U30C is a six-axle locomotive built by General Electric from 1966 to 1976. With 600 units sold, the U30C proved to be a viable alternative for customers who were unable to purchase SD40s from Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) due to production backlog.

One of only five PC U30Cs, the 6535 still wears her PRR number and faded keystones. She would later be renumbered to CR 6835. Date of photo approximate.

U30C Phases. GE used a common body for the various U-boats, so this list is based on phases of the U30B. All Phase I were built with oil bath air filters. Phase II with the forward radiator intake mounted high had oil bath filters; low-mounted intake was for paper air filters.

2025年1月28日 · General Electric's U30C was at one time the company's most successful six-axle locomotive, with 600 units being sold over a production run spanning more than nine and a half years (November,1966-October, 1976). This locomotive model is capable of producing 3000 horsepower. Currently none remain in service on any Class 1 Railroads.
