SD18 #6640 started life as Southern Ry. SD24 #2524, then renumbered to 6343, before moving on to PNC 1843 and eventually becomming CNW #6640. The unit lost it's turbocharger and 2400 horsepower rating, but retained it's high nose and it's Southern style nose mounted bell. Looking very nice in CNW paint for a 25 year old engine built in Oct. 1959.

Precision National SD18m 1801 on the BN at Clyde, Illinois on an unknown day in November 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in October 1959 as Southern SD24 2503 (c/n 25599) on EMD Order 5606, it was renumbered to Southern 6301. It was sold to PNC during 1978 and put into PNC's lease pool.

Acquired in 1982 from PNC, SD18 #6637 sits at Proviso. this unit is the former SOU 2515, and was built in 1959.
