PRR K4s Torpedo #3768 - K&L Trainz
In 1936, Raymond Loewy designed a full body shroud for PRR K4s #3768. The bulk of the locomotives functionality was covered, so it acquired the nickname “Torpedo.” It incorporated a center headlight bullet nose, full length sky-lining, an enclosed cab, silver and multiple gold pin striping, and full shrouding across the wheels, pilot & cylinders.

2024年8月21日 · Fiscally-conservative Pennsylvania Railroad commissioned Raymond Loewy to design a makeover for its tried-and-true K4s Pacifics. PRR #3768 began life as a typical K4s, one of fifty built at the road’s Juniata shops in 1920. Loewy submitted 24 potential designs for a streamlined shroud.

2019年7月5日 · PRR K4 3768 4-6-2 N&W 600 was the first of a series of fourteen J class 4-8-4s built by Norfolk & Western's Roanoke shops. Number 600 rolled out of the shops in October 1941. The 1941 Js were designed to replace various classes of smaller steam (K1s and K2s, primarily) in mainline passenger service.
