1 天前 · Neat photo posted above. 643 (then numbered 5 from its days at the Central Iron & Steel mill at Harrisburg) arrived via the PRR Dillsburg Branch during the group"s 1961 machinery show. A local freight move behind what looked to be a PRR Alco T6 diesel. The PRR Branch used to past by the entrance to the show grounds, but is now long gone. Regards,

2025年3月13日 · As best as I remember most of the A-5 switchers were built in 1916 and 1917. The existance of A-5 number 643 lead to the theory that B-4a 643 was probably off the PRR roster by that time. A few A-5's were built in the mid twenties so that would seem to be the latest time B-4a 643 could have been on the roster.

6 天之前 · The PRR Dillsburg Branch (which 643 arrived on) started out as Dillsburg & Mechanicsburg RR., which was part of Cumberland Valley Ry. Later these lines came under the Pennsy banner. As John mentioned the D&M was electricified and carried passengers in wooden self-propelled electric traction coaches, sort of an early-day PRR M.U. car.

2025年3月12日 · Well anyway, 643 is a personal favorite. Congradulations to all at the WGHSEA in getting her running again! Here is some more info to add to the pot. 643 was on the PRR roster between June 1901, when she was outshopped by the PRR Altoona Shops, and March 1917, when she was sold to the Central Iron & Steel Company.
