Early version of classic mill gondola... Reminiscent of the G22, but incorporated drop ends and wood floors. A staggering 2,400 of these 65'6" mill gondolas were built — 1,700 G26 split across Altoona, Enola and Pitcairn shops and 700 G26A at Pitcairn and Altoona (25 G26A were built new for the Norfolk & Western, too.)

2024年2月2日 · The PRR G27 gon proved ideal for carrying auto frames. As early as 1940, the Pennsy designed a wood and steel frame mechanism that held auto frames in place. The clamping device design was changed in 1947 when a single "L" frame clamp was applied to the top of the car sides at the "B" end.

2020年11月21日 · The Pennsylvania owned a lot of gondola cars because so much steel of all kinds was produced and shipped in PRR territory. This fleet was extremely visible throughout North American, and deserves representation in every transition-era modeler’s fleet.

2010年2月2日 · Are there any pennsy fans out there who can tell me the color or color match for PRR G26 gons as they would have been painted in 1940? Thanks for the help.

Thanks to an article by Keith Kohlmann in the Jan/Feb issue of N Scale Railroading, I found out that Minitrix made a fairly accurate model of a PRR G36C covered gondola. It just so happens that I was able to find one at a swap meet this last weekend.
