The H49 class covered hoppers were built by Pullman Standard in 1967 as PRR 261245-261369. 52 cars carried their PRR numbers to Conrail and were renumbered to CR 884901-884972. The 64 cars that became PC 885315-885439 now became CR 885315-885439.

2022年2月20日 · Last year I was able to pick up a Exactrail undecorated 4427 covered hopper for a reasonable price so I decided to model another Penn Central H49 2-bay covered hopper. Basically I removed and shortened the car from having 3 bays to 2 bays. The PRR purchased these cars right before the PC merger so they came with thr brakewheels lowered.

The PRR applied end-sills to their later production H40 covered hoppers, increasing the cars' capacity. Like most railroads, Conrail used their Airslide covered hoppers primarily to transport flour and starch. Built as one of the earliest PRR H40 covered hoppers, CR 875117 got rebuilt and then leased from GATX.

32017 PRR H49 Covered Hopper - 3D Central
Built for the PRR in 1966 Many of these PS covered Hoppers carried on into the mid 2000s carrying PC and CR paint before being retired. These were built with many of the same design features as the PRR H50s. These cars are slightly shorter and had a large rib-less panel in the centers of the sides of the car. D&H PS-2CDs are also very similar.

PRR 261269 is seen at Owosso, MI on 7/6/91. Car was built 6-66 by P-S at their Butler, PA plant as part of Lot 9141. It was never renumbered to CR 884912 as it was later sold becoming TCOX 105 in 1998. It was renumbered again in 2006 to TRLX 5508 and was finally deleted on 6/1/16. This car wore its PRR paint its entire career.

These were built with many of the same design features as the PRR H49s. These cars are slightly longer and contain a consistent rib design where the H49s had a large rib-less panel in the centers of the sides of the car. D&H PS-2CDs are also very similar. 3D Printed Body, Photo Etched details, and Weights are included.
