Update your ps5 slim console and then restart your ps5 slim . The disk drive will start working. Sony really did something here to prevent users from staying on the factory system software and wait for a jailbreak.

It involves keeping a disc in the system, powering off, then popping of the bottom cover where the disc drive is located. There is a black sticker on the disc drive. Carefully peel away the sticker, set to the side then gently turn screw clockwise until the disc pops out of the drive. Pull the disc out by hand and thats it.

I couldn’t care less about how it looks or how it has to stand unless it affects the performance. As far as I’ve heard, any fan on any PS5 is quiet. But there’s a massive complaint about the detachable disk drive for the Slim.
Why must we register the disc drive with the device on the network?
2023年12月23日 · I hurriedly jumped in the car snd headed to Gamestop. I should have confirmed with the cashier before dropping PS5 money. I get home, set it up, and apparently, the disc drive needs to be registered to the device via the network. This is the first console I've bought in a decade. Apparently, you can't just plug and play anymore.
Does anyone know if the PS5 Disc version will run without the disc ...
2023年8月25日 · Like many, my disc drive suddenly won't read any discs. And yes, I've verified they are clean and inserted the right way, I've checked every game disc I own as well as Blu-Rays (which I verified play fine in my PS3 and PS4), I've rebooted the system, rebooted into safe mode and cleared cache and then rebuilt the database, no luck.
Would y'all recommend using 3rd party disc drives for the PS5?
2024年5月15日 · I don't see any disc reader just looks like a glorified USB hub or gimmicky cooling stand. 2nd image is probably just an external disc drive not even related to ps5. Unless you have a PS5 slim digital then it's hopeless to begin with.

2023年12月9日 · Unfortunately, out of the box to register the disc drive you have to update the firmware first. And the latest at this time is 8.40. I bought two slims, one I am using as a live console and another I am keeping offline with it on 7.20 (some slims are 7.40 out of the box).

I just got a brand new PS5 slim disk edition and I've noticed some things. First, the fans are a bit loud compared to my series x which is completely silent, but i can deal with that. The real issue is the disk drive is extremely loud when a disk is inserted. The sound is a lot louder in person than it sounds in the video.

2024年1月22日 · My slim PS5 doesn't make this vibrating noise on any of my disks. Sounds like you just happened to get a bad disk (if other disks don't make that same noise). If all disks make that noise, I'd swap it out with another model.
