The leap from the PS1 to PS5 in RAM has been huge with every generation, but it reached certain number that leaping from 8gb PS4 to a 100gb RAM PS5 will be unnecessary really. So there's no need to leap x60 times the number of RAM from the previous gen to make a difference nowadays. 16gb is x2 of the 8gb RAM of PS4, but x2 does not mean anything.

2020年12月14日 · Both PS4 and PS5 chips are APU (Accelerated Processing Unit). CPU and GPU are on the same die. They share the same RAM pool, in this case GDDR. However a PS4 Pro has another 1GB RAM in addition to 8GB GDDR5.

The PS5 uses an SSD, and the RAM chip right next to it is not part of the total system RAM. It’s a DRAM cache, and there’s literally no better for it to be than a DRAM cache, I don’t know what to tell you buddy.

2018年11月21日 · Thank you for your informative post. My money is on 16GB of RAM. My wish (which will never happen) is to allow PS5 owners to upgrade the RAM and storage. Storage is a given, but the RAM is always baked onto the motherboard.

2019年9月23日 · The only thing we can be sure of the RAM increase wont be 16x the amount the previous console, which means the PS5 will be the first playstation console to not have this. My guess is 16-24GB. Sony hadnt specified whether its GDDR6, or unified memory for that matter, so we will have to wait and see

2023年6月22日 · This isn't really analogous to current consoles because, unlike PCS, consoles share the RAM as a pool between the GPU and the rest of the system. So, it is difficult to say how much is being used for VRAM and system RAM at all times, BUT for PS5 there is 16GB shared RAM with most estimates being that it uses 2-4 GBs for system RAM and 12 GB VRAM.
