2023年7月21日 · Everything I listed is comparable to the PS5 relative to its time. 2 year old CPU generation (Zen 2 in PS5's was actually 1), desktop GPU (7700XT/7800) is similarly priced to RDNA2 GPU with same CUs as PS5 (6700 XT), memory and storage prices have crashed, vapor chamber might be too expensive tho.

I think they just wanted show their commitment to hardware and also get a narrative going around an upcoming Series Ultra before the PS5 Pro specs start to leak.
