Page 7 of 68 Understanding principles and rules The NHS has set maximum waiting time standards for access to healthcare. In England, waiting time standards for cancer care come under two headings:

PTL is a list of patients who need to be treated by given dates in order to start treatment within maximum waiting times set out in the NHS Constitution. Patient Tracking List (PTL) is an established, forward-looking, management tool that can be used by the NHS to help achieve and sustain short Referral to Treatment and diagnostic waits.

The PTL meeting should be able to review a patient-specific list of those waiting on a cancer waiting times pathway, against any of the 31 and 62 day standards. Performance and capacity
