Parameter NAMES are generic in the SQL support system (i.e. not OleDb specific). Pretty much ONLY OleDb / Odbc do NOT use them. They are there because OleDb is a specific implementation of the generic base classes.

The reason I wouldn't create a class to return values from a ref/out parameter is because ref/out params only really make sense for large mutable structs (like matrices) or optional values, and the latter is debatable.
