Early implantation of pulsatile BiVAD support can be used to bridge pediatric patients with end-stage heart failure to HT with good outcomes and with AE rates comparable with LVAD support alone. Furthermore, patients are able to participate in rehabilitation early after BiVAD implantation and have excellent post-HT survival.

All pediatric patients receiving LVAD or BiVAD support between September 19, 2012, and March 31, 2017, were included.

We describe the experience with biventricular HeartWare VAD (HVAD) support in the pediatric population. As of May 2017, using the Heartware database, 11 centers were identified. Seven centers participated providing information for 10 patients (four females, six males).
