Break-in process question - Kia Forum
2024年6月23日 · Proper "break in" of a new engine is important. Use manual mode on the trans and create lots of cylinder pressure. Put it into 4th gear at low speed and floor it. Seating the piston rings properly is about the best thing you can do and will have a huge impact on oil consumption later. Changing the oil after 500 to 1k miles is a great idea.

While driving, keep your engine speed (rpm, or revolutions per minute) between 2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm. Do not maintain a single speed for long periods of time, either fast or slow. Varying engine speed is needed to properly break-in the engine. Avoid hard stops, except in emergencies, to allow the brakes to seat properly.

Most of our driving is city, so just trying to vary speed here and there to bring RPM up/down and run through the range. Any other tips/info appreciated!
