This new company brings together three of the most prominent individuals in assisted equine reproduction: Dr. Phil Matthews, Dr. Cesare Galli and Dr. Edward Squires. Each of the partners has over 30 years of experience and an expertise in developing reproductive techniques and applying them in a commercial setting.

In 1999, the vision to create a reproduction center became a reality with the construction of the Equine Reproduction Center in Summerfield, Florida, now known as the Advanced Fertility Center. In 2007, the administrative building of the main hospital was renovated and expanded to create more office space.

Mare reproductive management services are available to mares being bred by live-cover and mares being bred by artificial insemination via fresh, cooled-shipped or frozen semen. In order to determine the optimal time of breeding, mares are examined by vaginal speculum, transrectal palpation and ultrasonography as frequently as deemed necessary.

Peterson Smith's Advanced Fertility Center offers a full line of stallion reproductive services that allow owners to utilize their stallions in fresh, cooled/shipped or frozen semen programs.

As part of the embryo transfer program, Peterson Smith's Advanced Fertility Center (AFC) maintains one of the largest recipient mare herds in the Eastern United States. Our experience, expertise and facilities allow us to offer many different options by which a breeder can participate in a successful ET program.

Our reproduction internship takes place at our Advanced Fertility Center, located in Summerfield, Florida. Reproduction interns will work closely with Melissa J. Prell, DVM, MS, DACT.
