2012年9月29日 · In 1938 the Sierra built a new water tank at Jamestown (date in concrete footings even today) which did not have a roof. This is the water tank that appeared in Petticoat Junction in the 1960s.

The train stop is nicknamed "petticoat junction" because the Bradley sisters often skinny dip in the railway's water tower and leave their petticoats draped over the side. [5] The opening titles of the series show their petticoats hanging on the tower [ 6 ] while they are swimming offscreen.

2005年9月17日 · It could be that they are bathing in a tank for restocking the steam engines. It’s called “Petticoat Junction” after all. I seem to recall that they were easily visible from the approaching train, which means it probably isn’t a city water tower they are in. I may be misremembering though, the camera might have panned up as well as out.

2022年4月1日 · This is the well known opening to the TV show Petticoat Junction where the Bradley sisters are seen swimming in the locomotive's water tower. The girls are all still living (Linda Henning, Lori Sanders, and Gunilla Hutton) but Higgins (dog) passed in 1975.

2014年6月1日 · The tower is probably best known for appearing in the opening sequence of every episode of the 1963-1970 television series Petticoat Junction. #3 was refitted with a diamond stack and square headlamp for the series, and renamed the "Hooterville Cannonball".

The tower mock-up had water added whenever there was a scene with the train, but it was not maintained to permanently hold a large volume.

Exterior scenes from the TV series Petticoat Junction, The Wild Wild West, and Green Acres were filmed in and near Jamestown, as well as parts of Little House on the Prairie TV series. Jamestown is the headquarters for the Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians of California, a federally recognized tribe of Miwok people.
