Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) This practitioner level course will teach participants how to manage patient care in inter-facility and pre-hospital emergency care settings. Successful completion of the EMT standard and assessment leads to the award of the National Qualification in Emergency Medical Technology (NQEMT) at the level of EMT.

The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council protects the public by independently co-ordinating, developing, reviewing, regulating, and governing standards of excellence for the safe provision of quality pre-hospital emergency care.

PHECC recognised institutions (RIs) can deliver PHECC approved education and training standards leading to NQEMT awards and certificates of course completion for responder levels.

The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) is an independent statutory organisation responsible for implementing, monitoring and further developing the standards of care provided by all statutory, private and voluntary ambulance services in Ireland.

In order to gain entry into this profession you must be in possession of a National Qualification in Emergency Medical Technology and also hold a Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) EMT Practitioners licence. A list of these approved courses is available here

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a 160 hour PHECC accredited training course fully certified by the Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council.

Students shall receive the National Qualification in Emergency Medical Technology (EMT Level) from the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council and shall be placed on the PHECC register as an EMT with a pin number assigned.
