May 3, 2013 · I got the compression tester, but it is really impossible to test the compression with it, unless I pull the engine off the frame, not ready for that yet. The compression is 10.3:1 which suppose to be a reading of approximately 150 PSI. I ordered a variator kit from Malossi, will try it first. Won't hurt anyway.

It's a good idea to disconnect the Air Injector (you could do the fuel as well, but not as important) when doing a compression test so you don't flood the engine. If you are just doing 1 test, with maybe 3 seconds on the starter, you could by-pass disconnecting the injector(s).

Aug 23, 2013 · I now have the engine removed from the bike but I can only get 6 bar max from my compression tester when cranking it over. The piston and barrel look perfect but that's all I can think it can be. I don't have the coolant hoses and carb connected anymore as pretty sure I can do a compression test without these on.
