Displacement vs Semidisplacement vs Planing | Boat Design Net
2001年11月1日 · At very high planing speeds (>25kts) any change in deadrise angle in the aft sections of the hull can adversely affect performance. Hulls with a "variable deadrise" angle in the aft sections (where the angle of the 'V' decreases and flattens toward the transom) are a further modification of the semi-displacement hull form.
Low speed planing hull theory - Boat Design Net
2020年1月5日 · I would like to know what is, in theory only, the optimal design for a planing hull in terms off power/planing-speed/hull resistance for lightweight dinghy. The reason for this is that I can't (legally)a hull longer than 2,5m and I'm also restricted in power (3,5kW). Which means, very slow hull speed, very "short" power to plane that damned thing.
planing hull - Boat Design Net
2011年12月13日 · To broad brush it, planing hull must generate lift to rise over the hump and ride on top of the water at speed. Most are pigs at slow speed cause they're designed to run on top of the water on plane. Displacement boats need to run through water with minimal drag - long and very narrow beam is faster and short and fatter displacement is slow.
Generic Prismatic Planing Hull & Grand Challenge
2018年3月18日 · The Generic Prismatic Planing Hull was designed as a publicly releasable hull to facilitate distribution to government, contractors, and universities. The prismatic hull design was chosen to be representative of typical combatant craft while minimizing geometric variables such as warp, rocker and curvature in the transverse and longitudinal ...
Planning Hull at Displacment Speeds - Boat Design Net
2009年1月7日 · Likewise, the hull shape that is best at hull speed make this boat impossible rise up on top of the water and plane. Semi planing or semi displacement (same thing) are in the middle. They adopt enough characteristics of the planing hull to allow speed greater than hull speed while retaining some of the characteristics of the displacement hull.
d. sharp edge chines to induce flow separation along the side of the hull, hence, avoid a drag increase which would otherwise develop from side wetting of the hull; e. V-bottom transverse section with a deadrise design into the hull bottom. Typical body plan of a prismatic planing hull 70 8 45 5000 8000 15000 1,5 40000 15 90000
Calcuation to estimate planning speed | Boat Design Net
2007年10月29日 · The hull's designed for sailers are very different from planing power boat hulls. Having a motorized sailer is a compromise to which one is the priority, sail or power - it seems the planing hull shape is compromized the most since a planing hull won't sail so well, while a sailing hull can still be motor driven.
Are squared hull/transoms essential for a planing catamaran hull ...
2020年7月22日 · A short, fat hull (like a Formula board which is 3' wide and about 7' long) is very inefficient at low speeds but if you can summon the power to drive it fast enough to reach its planing threshold, it abruptly starts to plane at lower speeds and more efficiently than the long skinny hull. The jump from "displacement" to planing speeds and vice ...
planing sail boat hulls - Boat Design Net
2018年5月4日 · Ideally the planing hull form is flat bottomed, with a suitable entry, but this isn't very comfortable and has speed limitations, so some deadrise is introduced to soften the ride and improve efficiency at the top end. 10 degrees is quite modest for a planing powerboat.
Hull series data - Boat Design Net
2018年5月13日 · Donald Blount was one of the two authors of Resistance Tests of a Systematic Series of Planing Hull Forms which was the original published report on Series 62. It is the source of the Series 62 lines which TANSL provided above. (Name of paper corrected)
