Plav (Montenegrin: Плав; Bosnian : Plav; Albanian: Plavë) is a town located in the Northern Region of Montenegro, situated along the Lim River, which originates from nearby Lake Plav, a glacial lake at the foot of the Prokletije mountains. It has a population of 3,717 (2011 census).

Plav Municipality (Montenegrin, Albanian: Komuna e Plavës) is one of the municipalities of Montenegro. It is located in Northern Montenegro. The center is the town of Plav. In February 2014, the southwestern third of the municipality seceded to form the Gusinje Municipality. [1]

The town of Plav Montenegro is located at 945 m above sea level, just above the lake, and the place Gusinje at 925 m above sea level, at the beginning of the basin, at the meeting of the Grncar and Vruja rivers, at the foot of the Accursed Mountains, along the border with Albania.

The tourist offer of Plav is diverse and enables the development of various forms of tourism (winter, summer, rural, sport fishing, cultural) as well as engaging in various sports and recreational activities (mountaineering, cycling, sport fishing, water sports, rafting, kayaking, paragliding, walking on snowshoes, ski touring and snowboarding).

Plav is located at the base of the mountain riff Prokletije on the springs of the river Lim. It is considered that it got its name after Roman Emperor Phlavius during the Roman rule. Lake Plav (Plavsko jezero) is the largest and most beautiful lake in the Plav region of Montenegro, in northeastern Montenegro, resting between the Prokletije and Visitor mountain ranges at an altitude of 906 m above sea level. The surface area of Lake Plav is 1.99 km2 and it extends north-south for some 2,160 m.
