2011年12月8日 · Some later Plymouth 230 (mid year 54 and newer) used a 6 bolt flange. Some Dodge drive shaft flanges are thicker than Plymouth and some dodges. Dodge bellhousing are deeper than Plymouth to accomodate the fluid drive unit, Dodge transmissioin input shafts are longer than Plymouth when equiped with fluid drive.

2017年5月27日 · Someplace in the middle is probably where you want to be. The late 40s flathead 6 motors were pretty reliable motors. Small upgrades usually added more power with little effect on the motors life, and some of the upgrades actually improved the motors life. A full rebuild is a step in the right direction.

2011年12月17日 · Pretty nifty. I did the same thing on my plymouth except I used a distributor shaft from a 318 in the slant 6 housing, I just lopped the end off and cut a new tang on the end. Your flatty should idle smoother and start easier with the electronic ignition, mine ran better after ditching the points.

2014年8月26日 · I would suggest basically a stock rebuild with Ross pistons if you can afford them, or NOS stock pistons ($75 a set of 6) if not. Stock cam, or mild cam as recommended by Edgy for a blown motor if you insist. Shim the valve springs if you plan to rev it. 3 angle valve job. Clean up the head of sharp edges. Get reciprocating parts balanced.

They also made an OHV six based on the same block from 1956 to 1965. These engines will interchange. Parts are available to rebuild your engine. It is a simple, rugged engine, not hard to work on.

2023年8月21日 · Yours may be a 218, but given the age and interchangability of them a 230 is a possibility. Difference is stroke and can be measured using the plug in the head over #6. Crank and rods are the only difference. My 56 Dodge pickup originally had a 230 but came to me with a 218 from a '50 Plymouth and is getting a 230 from a 56 Plymouth.
