2016年5月1日 · The 1440GT has much faster feed rates and considerably and a whopping 2.25" greater clearance over the cross slide. The extra weight, and hopefully rigidity, of the 1440GT sound attractive to me but I am firmly in the unknown-unknown phase of learning to run a lathe.

2017年4月6日 · I hear you on buying sight unseen. When I purchased my PM-1440GT the very first run was still being made at the factory so it was a big unknown to everyone. No regrets now. The G0709 was on my short list when I was looking. The PM-1440GS would have been also if I had know about them.

2022年5月23日 · The Yaskawa GA500 PM-1440GT control system, I built the micrometer stop, as PM/QMT was out of stock. I have built both the stock design and a shorter body design which gives more travel and is a bit over 1 " shorter, so allows closer work near the headstock.

2018年5月7日 · Bill, like da ja vue all over again and congrats on a great machine. I took delivery of a PM 1440GT in February and had similar tale of getting the lathe off the shipping pallet. I too set the lift point too close to the head but I came in from the back after cutting away the pallet except for the area under the Head and Tailstock stand.

2023年10月23日 · PM/QMT version does have the 2" spindle bore which is nice vs. the Eisen 1440EV. I do a lot of VFD installs, and in most cases I recommend going with the factory installed VFD if available. At the end of the day I tell people you will spend as much doing a custom install, as you would going with the factory one, and pretty much turn key operation.

2024年9月20日 · I have a Phase-A-Matic R-3 rotary phase converter which I have wired into my Precision Matthews PM-1440GT, which has a 2 horsepower 3-phase motor. This phase converter has only three wires in its electrical box. The two hot legs from the wall are wired into the lathe and the rotary phase converter in parallel.

2024年6月3日 · The 1440GT and 1340GT are almost identical when it comes to figuring out the DRO mounting requirements. Clicking on each photo will bring up a description. The trickiest aspect is for the cross slide as a lot of the most common mounting arrangements block access to the cross slide locking bolt.
