The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Hon’ble Prime Minister has accorded approval of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) in its meeting held on 1st July, 2015.

The primary objectives of PMKSY are to attract investments in irrigation system at field level, develop and expand cultivable land in the country, enhance ranch water use in order to minimize wastage of water, enhance crop per drop by implementing water-saving technologies and precision irrigation.

The scheme of RRR of water bodies has become a part of PMKSY (HKKP). BASIC FEATURES OF THE SCHEME: Under PMKSY the Cabinet has approved for an outlay of Rs. 9050 crore for PMKSY (HKKP) component with a target to create 21.0 lakh ha of irrigation potential including 1.50 lakh ha from RRR of water bodies scheme. Main objectives of the scheme
