This Pocher Gulf Porsche 917 kit represents the 1971 917K car with a unique tail. The IXO kit does have more detail, mainly in the engine bay (much of which is hidden when completed) and the interior, but finishes with more exposed Phillips screw heads than the Pocher kit.

After dominating the 1970 season, the Porsche 917 underwent various updates. A new 5-liter engine (86.8x70.4mm) was introduced with a power that rose to 620hp. The aerodynamics were very careful, with a new bodywork characterized by large rear fins. The long-tail version, designed for Le Mans, also received a new aerodynamic configuration.
