19 types is too many imo, no offense but every time I play a game with extra types the new type/types are either super gimmicky or unbalanced.

Sep 15, 2023 · This is pretty cool, but I do think there's just too much interaction. For example, I just don't like the idea of any pokemon having more than two 4x weaknesses. In this chart, a Bug/Grass type would have six. If that was the point and your vision of the game of Pokemon is different from mine, fair enough.

However, I feel the types have gotten out of hand, and would propose reducing down (from 19 to 12). Many of us have difficulty remembering all the type strengths and weaknesses. It feels ridiculous to need to pause and consult a chart when battling. Here are my proposals to reduce the amount of types. Ground and Rock are basically the same thing

Mew is basically a fairy, Celebi is a grass/psychic fairy, Jirachi is a steel/psychic fairy, Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie are psychic type fairies, most fairies are psychic type.

Posion types really were blessed with the fairy type but there is still one other thing they should be super-effective against - Posion is super-effective against water.

Jul 4, 2022 · The type chart needs a rework IMO some types are too strong and need nerfed (fairy and steel come to mind) while other need buffed (ice) how would you balance things out?

Oct 13, 2023 · The presumption that the type chart needs adjustment doesn't ring truly for me. The whole point of type interactions is to create asymmetries; interactions through which balance and depth should emerge.
