2014年6月25日 · Thanks again to everyone for the suggestions. I wanted to share the location in Frisco I found less than 5 min away from my house that has the Western BBQ brand wood chunks and chips in Oak, Pecan, Maple, Cherry, Apple, Mesquite & Hickory.

4 天之前 · How long can a post oak be dead for the wood to still be good? This one has been dead for maybe 4 months. A couple of the lower pieces are starting to show signs of getting soft but it's not a lot.

2021年5月5日 · Franklin uses post oak, as do most central Texas BBQ joints. If you're doing beef, do oak. Save the cherry for fish, poultry, or pork. No experience with either oak species though as I too use post oak. Would probably go with the white myself.

2019年12月19日 · Only issue Ive ever had with live oak is a mold/fungus that seems to like it more so than Pecan. I usually keep at least a cord of wood laying around, & while I prefer Pecan for smoking I use plenty of Oak too (live & post). The mold will grow while seasoning sometimes. The mold seems to be a tad more common on the live oak.

2023年4月21日 · Most houston neighborhoods cleared all the trees, especially if they were under a 1/4 acre. Live oak would have been an exception. Pecan, post oak would have been the natural occurring trees if any were saved. They would also be weird shaped from the brush they would have out grown and bigger trees they would have chased sunlight for.

2011年4月26日 · 1) Willow Oak (but keep weed eaters away from bark, which is susceptible to damage moreso than other oaks 2) Chinese Pistache 3) Bald Cypress 4) Water Oak 5) Cedar Elm These all survived harsh tests more than 25 years ago and I have had a 100% success rate with the ones I have planted. The Willow oaks grow faster than a water oak in my landscape!
