House Bill 49 of the 132nd General Assembly consolidated the State Board of Optometry and the Optical Dispensers Board into the Vision Professionals Board. The Board oversees activities related to licensing of nearly 6,500 optometrists, opticians, and ocularists.

In Ohio, optometrists are licensed under chapter 4725 of the Ohio Revised Code. Applicants for licensure must be graduates of an accredited college of optometry and must pass Parts I, II, and III of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) exams.

The Ohio Vision Professionals Board came into existence on January 21, 2018. House Bill 49 of the 132nd General Assembly consolidated the State Board of Optometry and the Optical Dispensers Board into the Vision Professionals Board. The Board currently licenses and regulates over 7,000 optometrists, optical dispensers, ocularists and apprentices.

Following are the future meetings of the Ohio Vision Professionals Board (including scheduled Board committee meetings) through November 2023. All Board meetings are scheduled to be held at the Vern Riffe Center, 77 South High Street, Columbus, Ohio.
