Project Tiger is a wildlife conservation movement initiated in India to protect the endangered tiger. The project was initiated in 1973 by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of the Government of India .

The Government of India has taken a pioneering initiative for conserving its national animal, the tiger, by launching the “Project Tiger” in 1973. From 9 tiger reserves since its formative years, the Project Tiger coverage has increased to 51 at present, spread out in 18 of our tiger range states.

While the whole world is seeking methods of increasing the number of tigers, India has already started achieving milestones through Project Tiger. From turning hunting grounds to tiger reserves , India has shown its magic of conserving wildlife in general.
