The Q2 was a rigid-wheelbase locomotive that was subdivided into two axle groups: the forward pair of axles were driven by 19 3/4-in diameter cylinders with a stroke of 28 inches. The rear cylinder pair, located between the front axle and the three-coupled rear group, had 23 3/4-in diam cylinders with a stroke of 29 inches.
