The Q2 locomotives were also the most powerful steam locomotive ever constructed with ten driving wheels.

The Q2 was a rigid-wheelbase locomotive that was subdivided into two axle groups: the forward pair of axles were driven by 19 3/4-in diameter cylinders with a stroke of 28 inches. The rear cylinder pair, located between the front axle and the three-coupled rear group, had 23 3/4-in diam cylinders with a stroke of 29 inches.

At 115,800 lbs of tractive effort and nearly 8,000 horsepower, the Q2s were the most powerful ten-coupled steam locomotives ever produced. These monsters were the greyhounds of the PRR, single-handedly hauling tonnage at high speeds over the PRR's lines.

The Q2. The next duplex on the PRR was also their last fling with the rigid frame duplexes, the Q2. It had a 4-4-6-4 wheel arangement. This is my favorite duplex. It just has the look of power, it's huge, and has great proportions. Quite an awesome machine!
