Pyrylium - Wikipedia
Pyrylium is a cation (positive ion) with formula C 5 H 5 O +, consisting of a six-membered ring of five carbon atoms, each with one hydrogen atom, and one positively charged oxygen atom. The bonds in the ring are conjugated as in benzene, giving it an aromatic character. In particular, because of the positive charge, the oxygen atom is trivalent.

Over one century after discovery: pyrylium salt chemistry …
In recent decades, pyrylium salt chemistry has emerged as a powerful approach for constructing complex macrocycles and metallo-supramolecules. In this perspective, we attempt to summarize the representative efforts of synthesizing and self-assembling large, complex architectures using pyrylium salt chemistry.

2023年2月1日 · The pyrylium ion is a six-membered heterocyclic system with an oxygen atom charged positively and with a suitable counter anion (BF 4 −, ClO 4 −, PF 6 − etc.). The unsubstituted pyrylium ion is highly sensitive to moisture; therefore, the substitutions at ortho- and para-positions make them resistant to nucleophilic attack attaining ...

(d) Pyrylium ion is an aromatic compound because it has electrons and one of the lone pairs of oxygen participates in an aromatic sextet. Here, the carbocation also undergoes resonance. So, it obeys Huckel’s rule. Pyrylium ion. (Aromatic)
Aromatic Ions: Pyrylium & Cyclopropenium - Vaia
Two examples of aromatic ions include the Pyrylium Ion and the Cyclopropenium Ion. They are recognised by their cyclic, planar structure and demonstrate high reactivity and stability, making them important in organic reactions. Aromatic ion formation involves electron shifts from …

2019年5月10日 · It was known that pyrylium salts can easily add nucleophiles in the 2,6 (α) positions and undergo ring opening. Thus, with hydroxide anions, they form pseudobases (1,5-enediones), which cyclize to phenols by cyclo-dehydration with an α-methyl.
