The Panther tank, officially Panzerkampfwagen V Panther (abbreviated Pz.Kpfw. V) with ordnance inventory designation: Sd.Kfz. 171, is a German medium tank of World War II. It was used in most European theatres of World War II from mid-1943 to the end of the war in May 1945.

Der Panzerkampfwagen V (Suggestivname: Panther; Sd.Kfz. 171) war ein mittlerer deutscher Panzer im Zweiten Weltkrieg. Er wurde von MAN als Reaktion auf den sowjetischen T-34 entwickelt. Der Panther sollte die anderen mittleren deutschen Panzer ersetzen, kam dann aber zusammen mit dem weiter produzierten Panzer IV zum Einsatz.

The Funkgerät 5 radio was a high-band HF/low-band VHF transceiver. It operated in the 27,000 to 33,3000 kHz (27-33.3 MHz) frequency range with a transmit power of 10 Watts. This equipment provided for 125 radio channels at 50 kHz channel spacing.

The German tank series 1 to 6 has now been filled in with the long-missing PzKw 5 (Panther) a fast, heavy, well-armored vehicle mounting a long 75-mm gun. It appears to be an intermediate type between the 22-ton PzKw 4 and the PzKw 6 (Tiger) tank.
