The PZL.54 Ryś (Lynx) was a pre-war Polish heavy fighter design developed in 1939 by the PZL company. Although intended as an evolution (and a replacement of) the PZL.48 Lampart, it never went beyond drawing boards due to Invasion of Poland and the outbreak of World War II.

PZL.54 Ryś (PZL-54) – projekt polskiego samolotu myśliwskiego konstrukcji inżynierów Franciszka Misztala i Tadeusza Tarczyńskiego, opracowywany w Państwowych Zakładach Lotniczych w roku 1939. Samolot ten stanowił ewolucyjne rozwinięcie myśliwca PZL.48 Lampart, wyposażone w nowe, mocniejsze silniki rzędowe Hispano-Suiza 12Z.

The PZL.48 was a development of the heavy fighter-bomber PZL.38 Wilk, designed by Franciszek Misztal. Owing to problems with PZL.38's PZL Foka V8 engines and the excessive weight of the prototype it was decided in 1938 to build a variant of the plane using more powerful radial engines, named PZL.48 Lampart.

PZL (Państwowe Zakłady Lotnicze - State Aviation Works) was the largest Polish aerospace manufacturer of the interwar period, and a brand of their aircraft. Based in Warsaw between 1928 and 1939, PZL introduced a variety of well-regarded aircraft, most notably the PZL P.11 fighter, the PZL.23 Karaś light bomber, and the PZL.37 Łoś medium bomber.
