QB64 is a modern extended BASIC+OpenGL language that retains QB4.5/QBasic compatibility and compiles native binaries for Windows (7 and up), Linux and macOS (Catalina and up). The Phoenix Edition is one of the new offshoots created when the old project related pages (QB64Team/www.qb64.org) went offline, but it's still the same programming language.

MIDI support in QB64-PE is finally out of the $UNSTABLE state now. The compiled executable will no longer include an embedded soundfont. To address this issue discussed in the forum, ymfmidi, Opal, and a tiny FM bank are now used.
