Queen Elizabeth 2 - Wikipedia
Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) is a retired British passenger ship. Originally built for the Cunard Line, the ship was operated by Cunard as both a transatlantic liner and a cruise ship from 1969 to 2008. She was then laid up until converted and since 18 April 2018 has been operating as a floating hotel in Dubai. [4]
QE2 - Pride of the Clyde: Liner Bows
These design constraints dictated slender bow sections to efficiently slice through the seas, bow profiles to deflect the seas in all conditions, and big powerplants to drive these ships at speeds averaging over 28 knots.
QE2 - Pride of the Clyde: DNA of a Liner
Take the bow hull form of QE2. At the time of QM2 construction, QE2 had 35 demanding years of handling the Atlantic Crossing schedule under her belt. Stephen Payne, QM2's Naval Architect has admitted that they essentially copied QE2's bow, scaling up the shape with the only modification being the more modern extended bulbous bow below the ...
QE2's Bow Thrusters
2009年8月12日 · Unlike the common Cruise Ship, QE2's bow thrusters had doors that closed (when the thrusters were not in use) in order to keep the hull streamlined and thus increase speed and efficiency.
Ocean liner vs Cruise ship - theqe2story.com
2009年12月14日 · QE2's and QM2's (to a somewhat lesser extent) hulls are tapered more at each end than current cruise ship. In the bow sections, this tapering allows for greater speed through rougher seas. This tapering runs aft for quite a distance on QE2 and to a lesser extend on QM2. This resulted in cabins of varying dimensions at the bow areas of QE2.
The 92 foot freak wave (1995) - The QE2 Story
2010年6月18日 · At Mach 2 three days after being on QE2... Bob, these modern tall vessels, especially those moster sized ones with huge inner courtyards.... do they test them for stability in the event of their being caught underneath a microburst? Especially one that was not exactly overhead but slightly off to one side?
QE2 1995 Freak Wave - Roblightbody dot com
Suddenly, a huge wave loomed off the bow, huge even for a ship the size of the QE2, at nearly 1,000 feet long, more than 100 feet wide, carrying nearly 3,000 people. Hundreds of miles from shore, the face of the wave was steep, like a breaking wall of water.

The outcome of those conversations—QE2 can pinpoint her position on the globe to within 100 feet within seconds. Behind the bridge, a machine draws isobars on to a weather map to help the ship choose its sunniest course. Her radar not only plots the positions of ships in the area, but also indicates their course and speed.
Rogue Wave Smashes The Queen Elizabeth Ii - Science Frontiers
The wave seemed to take ages to arrive but it was probably less than a minute before it broke with tremendous force over the bow. An incredible shudder went through the ship, followed a few minutes later by two smaller shudders. There seemed to be two waves in succession as the ship fell into the 'hole' behind the first one.
QE2 Breaks a Longevity Record - Ocean Liners Magazine
2020年9月4日 · In 1995, QE2 withstood a 98-foot (30-meter) wave breaking across her bow. Incidentally, QE2 left Cunard’s service in May 2008, compiling a total of 39 years, 6 months under the lion and globe. For Queen Mary 2 to break QE2’s remarkable record, she would have to sail for Cunard until the summer of 2043.
