2019年3月29日 · The "SAW/IAR" variant of the QBZ-191 has always just been the QBU-191 with a drum magazine. Though of course, even being equipped with 30 round box magazines it can still operate as a "SAW/IAR" depending on your interpretation of what such a weapon is meant to be (see M27 IAR).

2019年3月29日 · I wasn’t really pointing to the drum specifically. QBB95 and QBZ95, QBZ191 and QBU 191 are generally speaking just Heavy barrel iterations. The magazine well is the same the only major difference is the longer heavier barrel. Same general concept as the Aug HBAR, L86A1, the XM8/Mg36, even (ignoring receiver reinforcements) the RPK series.

2019年3月29日 · Despite minimal rail, the QBU-88 is supposed to use a scope most of the time, with it's BUIS being, well, BUIS. PLA already got the BUIS design down pat, so just pick it up and use it on QBU/QBZ-191 if they're intended to be issued with scopes. Simple as that.

2019年3月29日 · I'm specifically comparing the M27/M38 with QBU-191, not the QBZ-191 family at large (given the differences in barrel profile, barrel length, and of course handguards). The only reason for the comparison is to demonstrate that a rifle which is designed for "one role" can appropriately take on other roles without much drama, in reply to post #3148.
