A house move, a kitten, a puppy, a wedding and a baby later, I've finally had a chance to look at them again. 2024年11月28日 · Both amps are not very clean - pictures of one of them are attached. One of them (pictured) had at some stage the resistors and the cap on the tag board replaced. It also has an additional fuse for the power tubes. The other one seems pretty much original with all the original resistors and caps.

2021年6月20日 · Keith Snook inspired me to do a refill of the old square "block cap". Sandblasting removed a very thin layer of paint. Turns out the can is a soldered tin can with ordinary lead-solder. Protecting the bakelite from the flame. This might have been done with a large electric solderpen. Terminals are soldered "hats".

2006年1月21日 · It's worthwhile reading the circuit analysis of the Quad II in Morgan Jones's book "Valve Amplifiers". He suggests replacing the cathode resistor and bypass cap. Other mods mentioned are increasing the B+ by going solid state on the power supply and rewiring the output stage to accommodate tubes other than the rare and expensive KT66.
