Nov 8, 2003 · Well, I'll admit it (sort of). The R1 is the first street bike I've owned, although I rode several when I was in college. I also rode dirt bikes from the age of 10 through high school. I bought mine in Nov 07, and hadn't rode anything for over 20 years prior to that.

Oct 30, 2018 · You want to minimize your chances of. sh!t going wrong, and its higher if you get an r1 as a first bike. Liter bikes are heavy, and haul @$$ in a brutal manner, and the r1 is high off the ground, so if you're below 5'6 that's another problem (for a starter).

Oct 27, 2006 · First off, I own a 2004 R1 and a 2005 R6. I am debating selling the R6, but I keep getting told to make the R6 a track bike. Why is that, isn't the R1 a better and faster track bike?? What does the R6 offer over the R1 for a "track bike". Is it jsut because of the price of the bike if I drop it, or is it because the R6 is "better" on the track??

Now I know people on here may bash me but no worries, I rode dirt most my life and the principle is the same, keep the rubber side down. Throttle control is the main key to riding abilities.
