Toyota Motor Corporation 's R family is a family of 5-speed RWD / 4WD transmissions built by Aisin. They share much in common (such as the bell housing -to-body bolt patterns) with the Aisin AR transmission (rebadged MA-5 by GM, AX-15 by Jeep, and Isuzu AR5) A 2WD transmission found in Toyota Tacoma/Hilux 1996+, Toyota Prado .

The R154 is a transmission that is manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan. Toyota’s R-series of transmissions are known for being 5-speed transmissions. This means they have a 5-speed gearbox that includes 1 reverse gear and 5 forward gears. What is special about the R154 is how well it is constructed and designed.

These are the newer JZX100 version of the R154 from Japan that has 3pc synchros, and the main shift rails inside have ball bearings for smoother operation. These transmissions are the right shifter length to swap into an SC300, SC400, GS300, GS400, and MK4 Supra.

I wanted to get some info on how to build an AWD Chaser (JZX100). I’ve done a tone of research and so far the options I’ve seen is buying an Avante G (A350H gearbox) with a turbo Kit or be it finding the stock parts to convert a RWD one into AWD.

2016年2月24日 · With the 4x4 trans, it could possibly give you the ability to use the 4wd lever to have RWD and AWD options. The other option would be to use a R150 trans and t-case from a 3.4 Taco, that is if the 4wd t-case will work well enough or last long enough used in autoX.

2003年4月15日 · Isn't the r151f basicly the same tranny as the `154 only geared slightly different? It is a 4wd tranny with a transfer case found in most all manual 4wd tacomas and 4 runners. i think you're right.... R151s come in a bunch of different flavors, the strongest tranny/transfer supposidly is in the Turbo trucks... Thanks for the help guys.

2013年12月15日 · i got a 2jzgte non vvti (801bhp twin gt35's etc), a r154 gearbox built and an r33 gts skyline. i wanna go for awd...but with 2j and r154...how do i do it! arranging parts from gtr is very hard where i live....got almost everything of toyota and lexus...

2013年5月7日 · Measure from the bellhousing to the center of the w55 shifter housing. Then take the same measurement for the r154. The difference will be the length required to extend the housing by. You will also have to modify your shifter because all the shifters available will hit the console bezel. Most people extend them about 2.5 to 2.75".

2013年2月22日 · I've found a R154 from a 89 supra. Can it be converted to a 4wd for 1989 4runner or would it be better to just find one from a truck? Please help. A million times easier to just get the AWD (4WD?) box. Ratios aren't the best for a Torquy V8.....an auto 4WD trans would be a better match I think?
