2023年8月24日 · the ohio contract is only for a select amount of cars. They will have to have a new contact in place for more scrapping. The R46's i don't think has asbestos so it might be much easier for them to get scrapped within the NY metro area. The remaining R32's it's unknown, the Ohio contract only called for half of the fleet (if i'm correct.

2011年1月24日 · the R44 & R46-the R44 had the westinghouse propulsion, and sounded more like an SMEE. The front rollsign was lower than the R46.-the R46 had the GE propulsion, and the rollsign was higher. also there were alot more than them.

2023年8月24日 · The R46 is also a superior and comfortable train for the t/o to operate. The cab seat has a seatback. It's too bad there is so much steel dust making the digital side signs tough to read on many of the CIYD assigned R46's I have observed. They can run 2 car R46's on the Franklin shuttle until that issue is settled in time.

2023年8月24日 · There was a R46 back then, 5990-5993 that had no rollsign boxes seen on video. But, it did mention being back in service, was on the Rockaway Park (paired with 6026-6029). My guess is the ones retired are not capable of service so, the parts they have are transferred to keep the other units up and running. Edited July 11, 2024 by Calvin

2023年8月24日 · MTA learned from the R179 (or they've already done this). They haven't retired any R46 right now because if the entire R211 fleet gets grounded again, they would need all of the R46.
